Do You Know Jesus?

Some know the stories: a baby in a manger, a cross, an empty tomb.
Many know the name but not the Person.

Jesus didn’t come just to inspire us or start a religion. He came to rescue us. He came to restore the relationship between us and God that was broken by sin. He came because He loves you, and He wants you to know Him. Not just know about Him.. actually know Him!

It’s easy to feel like faith is something we just grow up around. Maybe you’ve heard about God all your life, or maybe you’ve only caught bits and pieces here and there. Either way, knowing facts about Jesus and having a relationship with Him are two very different things.

The truth is, we were created for connection with God. From the very beginning, that was the plan. Not rules. Not religion. A relationship.

God made us with purpose. But instead of walking with Him, humanity chose to go its own way. That choice, that separation, is what the Bible calls sin. It’s not just about the “bad things” we’ve done. It’s the deep ache of trying to do life apart from the One who made us.

But God didn’t leave us there. He saw the distance, and He closed the gap.
He sent His Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life, to lay down that perfect life, and to rise again.

Why? Because restoring that relationship meant everything to Him.

And here’s the part that still blows my mind: it wasn’t just for the world. It was personal. He did it for me. And He did it for YOU.

Jesus didn’t come to shame us or weigh us down. He came to free us. He came to bring us back into the kind of relationship where peace, purpose, and joy can finally take root. Where we’re no longer striving to prove ourselves or fix what’s broken on our own, but instead walking daily with the One who already paid the price.

Knowing Jesus isn’t about having all the answers. It’s not about being perfect or religious or checking the “Christian” box. It’s about saying, “God, I can’t do this without You anymore. I want to know You for real.”

If that’s something stirring in your heart, you’re not alone, and you’re not here by accident. Keep reading, because this could be the beginning of the most important relationship you’ll ever have!

How Do You Start a Relationship with Jesus?

If you’ve ever wondered what it actually means to become a Christian, to follow Jesus, not just in name but in truth, here it is:

It starts with acknowledging that you need Him.

It grows when you trust that He is who He says He is.

And it changes everything when you say yes.

Understand God’s Heart for You
God didn’t create you to be confused, exhausted, or hopeless. He created you for life, real life, the kind that’s anchored in peace and full of purpose. He wants to walk with you, not just when things are good, but through every season.

Recognize What’s In the Way
We were made to know God. But somewhere along the way, we chose our own path. That separation from Him, whether it looks like rebellion, pride, hurt, or distraction, is what the Bible calls sin. Sin isn’t just about what we do; it’s about being disconnected from the One we were created for. Left on our own, we can’t undo that.

Know You Can’t Earn It
We live in a world that says, “Be good. Do more. Try harder.” But when it comes to salvation, none of that will work. You can’t earn forgiveness by being “better,” attending church, or doing enough good things. You don’t have to perform for God; He already made the first move.

Trust What Jesus Did for You
This is where everything changes. Jesus lived a perfect life and then laid it down to cover yours. He took your place. Not out of obligation, but out of love. And then He rose again, defeating sin and death so you could live forgiven and free.

Say Yes by Faith
You don’t need fancy words. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to believe that Jesus is who He says He is and let that belief change your direction.

If You’re Ready to Surrender Your Life to Jesus

Faith isn’t about perfection. It’s about trust!
Are you ready to stop running and start walking with Jesus? Because He’s already reaching for you. If you believe He is who He says He is and you want to walk with Him, you don’t need perfect words. God already sees your heart. But if you’re unsure where to begin, you can pray something like this:

You said yes to Jesus — Now what?

Deciding to follow Jesus is the most important choice you’ll ever make, but it’s not the end of the story. It’s the beginning of a brand-new life. And just like anything new, it takes time to grow.

Faith isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress; learning to walk with God day by day. You don’t have to have it all figured out, but here are a few ways to start building that relationship now:

Tell Someone
Don’t keep this decision to yourself. Let a trusted Christian friend, mentor, or pastor know you’ve given your life to Christ. They can pray with you, encourage you, and help guide you as you grow.

Take the Step of Baptism
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith. It’s not what saves you, but it’s a bold, beautiful way to show the world that your old life is gone and you’re walking in something new.

Find a Local Church
You were never meant to do this alone. Community matters. A healthy church will help you stay grounded, connect with others, and grow in your faith!

Read the Bible & Talk to God Daily
Start spending time in the Word. You don’t have to read it all at once; just be consistent. Start with the Gospel of John or Psalms. And pray like you’re having a real conversation with God, because you are!

Get Around People Who Will Help You Grow
Ask God to bring people into your life who will encourage you, challenge you, and point you back to truth. Whether it’s a mentor, small group, or Bible study, surrounding yourself with godly influence matters.

Your relationship with Jesus is personal, but it was never meant to be isolating. Growth happens when we stay connected to Him and to His people. So take the next step — even if it feels small. You’re not walking alone!

Still Have Questions?

Maybe you’re still processing. Maybe you’ve got doubts, baggage, or things you’re afraid to say out loud. That’s okay.

God’s not intimidated by your questions, and neither am I! Whether you’ve just prayed to accept Jesus or you’re still trying to figure out what you believe, you don’t have to go through it alone.

You are seen.
You are deeply loved.
And you are not here by accident.

Jesus isn’t after your performance; He wants your heart.
Right where you are, as you are.
