The Ultimate Bible Study Toolkit
You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to hear from God. This page is here to help you study Scripture with confidence, consistency, and depth. No matter where you’re starting from.
God’s Word is living, active, and deeply personal, but sometimes, the hardest part is just opening the page. I’m here to let you know that you don’t need perfect focus, perfect routines, or perfect understanding. You just need a heart that’s willing to show up. This resource is here to help you start! Inside, you’ll find tips, study methods, and printable resources to help you study God’s Word in a way that’s personal, meaningful, and consistent. Whether you’re brand new to Scripture or just looking to go deeper, you’re in the right place!
Getting Started
Create a space where your study time feels less like a task and more like a meeting with God.
Choose a Bible Translation That Makes Sense
The best Bible is the one you’ll actually read. Don’t get stuck thinking you have to start with a super academic version (clarity matters). Choose a translation that helps you understand God’s Word without needing a dictionary beside you!
I know choosing a Bible translation can feel overwhelming, especially with so many options out there (that was me). If you’re not sure where to start, I can help you find a translation that fits your study style, reading level, and goals!
Set the Right Environment
Bible study doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does help to create an atmosphere where you can really focus.
- Find a quiet space with minimal distractions.
- Decide if music helps or hinders. Some people love worship music, others prefer silence.
- Start with prayer. Ask God to speak to you through His Word and soften your heart to receive it.
This is your sacred space. Protect it.
Have a Plan
One of the easiest ways to lose momentum is to open your Bible and not know where to start. That’s why having a plan matters. You can try:
Topical Plans — focus on themes like anxiety, identity, or healing
Chronological Reading — read the Bible in the order events happened
Bible-in-a-Year Plans — one day at a time, cover the whole book in 12 months

Building a Bible Study Routine
Studying the Bible doesn’t have to look the same every day! What matters most is that you show up, intentionally and honestly, even if things aren’t perfect. Here are some simple steps to help you build a routine that actually fits your life:
Step 1
Pick a Time That Work Best for You
Life is busy. You might have kids, a demanding job, or a mind that doesn’t slow down easily. You don’t need a two-hour window or a sunrise moment on the porch; just a time that feels realistic and sustainable. Maybe that’s in the morning before the noise starts. Maybe it’s during lunch or right before bed.
Whatever time you choose, treat it like time with a close friend. Put it on your calendar if you need to. Show up with intention, not pressure.
Step 2
Create a Space That Feels Sacred
You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect corner, but it helps to have a spot that signals “this is my time with God.” Maybe it’s a favorite chair, a journal nearby, a candle, or just a clear table and your Bible.
Keep your essentials handy: your notebook, a pen, highlighters, a warm drink if you like, and settle in. This is your space to be still and connect.
Step 3
Take a Quiet Moment and Begin with Prayer
Before you read a single verse, pause. Ask the Holy Spirit to quiet your heart and speak through the words you’re about to read. Invite God to meet you in this moment.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply say: “Lord, help me hear You in this.”
Step 4
Pick a Time That Work Best for You
Don’t let indecision stall your study time. Choose a starting point that fits your season.
● A devotional plan
● A book of the Bible (like John or Psalms)
● A topical theme (like peace, identity, or healing)
You can also download one of the reading guides or study templates on this site if you’re not sure where to begin.
Step 5
Slow Down and Soak His Word In
Once you’ve chosen a passage, take your time. Read it more than once. Highlight what stands out. Ask questions. Look at cross-references. Let the Word work its way into you.
You might try a study method like SOAP, verse mapping, or inductive study (you’ll find those tools and breakdowns further down this page).
Step 6
End with Prayer and Reflection
Before you close your Bible, talk to God about what you read.
Thank Him. Ask questions. Be honest about what challenged or encouraged you.
Let the reading move from your mind to your heart, and eventually, into your daily life.

Study Methods That Help You Go Deeper
There’s no one “right” way to study the Bible. Everyone learns differently and it’s important to try out different methods and find which one works best for you, or create your own personal combination of them!
